Top 5 things to bring to your Newborn Shoot

Here are some helpful tips for preparing for your Newborn Photoshoot.

Your upcoming Newborn Photoshoot I know can be a little bit daunting and you’re going to worry about all the little bits and pieces, and I want to help you out! First, know that for the most part everything you need for your session I have completely taken care of here in the studio. Second, I have made this little list to help you prepare and put your mind at ease! For anything else you’re wondering, just ask Ellie – your Melbourne Newborn Photographer.

  1. Nappies: we will likely do a couple of changes during your session. Newborn Photoshoots do go for around 3 hours, and we want to make sure baby is comfortable, and during nudie shots I will keep one around in case of accidents!

  1. Bottles: If you are bottle feeding bring along your bottles and formula. As with nappies, expect to use more than you would normally for this period of time. Better to over-prepare, as babies do generally feed a bit more frequently during your session to help with settling.

  1. Dummy: If you are using a dummy please do bring it along to your Newborn Session as these are great tools to help with settling, even if baby doesn’t always take it. If you’re not using a dummy full time, just for the session it can be a very useful tool.

  1. Outfits: I will help you with the planning of this, so don’t worry about that, just bring them along with you. For your Newborn- I have all the props, wraps etc for them, you don’t need to bring a thing!

  1. Sentimental items- if you have anything of sentimental value you are wanting to use in the photos of your newborn, please do feel free to bring them along. For example, we have had in the studio: stuffed toys that were gifted to baby by family, a vintage wooden toy car made by baby’s grandfather and knitted blankets made by baby’s grandmother.
